Birthday

3rd  Anniversary Cellebration,

Friday Evening, November 6, 2009

The Friends Third Anniversary Celebration: The Friends Celebrated three years of SouthShore library activity. About 200 guests attended the "invitation only" Friday evening November 6th party.

Joann Duffy and the great team of of food service volunteers. The deserts were outstanding and they were all made by Friends Volunteers.

Mark Twain, aka John Bowker, attended for a book signing. He also welcomed the 200 guests who attended.

Barbara Van Eychen presented her Patsy Cline Show.  Barbara grew up in New York where she acted and sang. After moving to Florida, she has performed in Southshore and has traveled Florida and North Carolina with her own show "Country to Pop.  The show is a musical tribute to the queen of country music, Patsy Cline.  The Show documents the singer's earlier years from obscure honky tonk to her Country-western super stardom and then on to her cross-over to pop music.

Barbara's incredible vocals, interaction with the audience, and her humor started you wondering..."is Patsy really
on stage tonight?"

And what would a Anniversary Celebration be without a Birthday Cake!

The Anthony Dalimonte Trio provided some very cool music.

Ed Barnes and Max Bokma served the best Iced Peach Tea and Champagne south of the Alafia River. Mostly, the guests were having such a good time that they didn't notice the drinks were non-alcoholic!

3rd Anniversary Cellebration

All Day Saturday, November 7, 2009

The Friends and the staff of the SouthShore regional Library presented a special series of programs for all library users. Most of the programs were for children and their care giver, but adults and seniors also had fun.

A group of pre-school kids enjoy...and even learn a bit, about art at the John Crawford Art Center at the SoyjShore Library.

"Cartoons By Leah" provides a childrens program on cartooning. The adults that attended with the kids seemed to also enjoy drawing cartoons.

The Teen Group at SouthShore, who are experts at Wii Gaming, have been teaching senior cirizens how to play. Who says "you can't teach old dogs new tricks"...opps, I hope I didn't offend anyone!

Robert Baylock from the House of Yo performs Yo Yo tricks for the kids. I think this little boy is getting a "yo yo buz".

Candy Olsen (left), HC School Board Member, chats with Diane and Joe Waronka. Candy represents SouthShore on the School Board and has been helpful to our library in a variety of ways.

Many of our hard working library staff attended the evening celebration. Most of the time they need to be polite and serious....but sometimes they can have fun!

And finally, it is all about members having fun!
