Book Sales - Giant Book Sale!

The 2014 annual book sale will be on Saturday, October 4, 2014. The sale will start at 10:00 am, when the library opens, and end at 1:30 pm. The sale will feature the popular "Buck A Bag" format. Also, all of the books in the regular sale room shelves will be 1/2 off. Come early for the best selection. This will be one of our "best ever" sale events!

All books sold by the Friends were donated. 100% of the money raised goes to the library. Some of the organizations that donate books on an ongoing basis are:

Beth Isreal, Jewish Congregation of Sun City Center
Freedom Plaza Library
Kings Point Library
Beth-El Mission
Hillsborough County Library System
Sun Towers Retirement Community
Chula Vista Landings Home Owners Association

Donated books may be left at the library in the Friends Book Sale Store or may be placed in the Book Drop which is just outside the store.

Donations to the Friends may be tax deductable. Donation verification forms are vailable at the book store.

Giant Book Sale Events

Customers Waiting for Sale, November 2013

The Friends had a really big book sale on Saturday, November 16, 2013. Thanks to all of the hard working volunteers!

Total sales were $962. Outstanding!

We made $598 from the “Buck-A-Bag” sales, the most ever in this category. The “½ price sales” were $328, also an excellent number.

Frances Hereford counted about 540 residents attending the sale, the most ever!! The line was almost to the flag pole waiting to enter the library before 10am.

Our “best guess” is that we sold over 5,000 books.

The sale brought many people into the library, some on their first visit!

A side benefit of the sale was that the Friends and YES enjoyed working together, and, I think, everyone learned something from the other! All of the boys had the opportunity for free books. The Friends are currently donating GED manuals and dictionaries to YES/AMI. To learn more about the organization, go to http://amikids.org/locations/our-programs
